Drawing errors

Drawing errors can be imported into Dipla from your GIS software or, in rare cases, be drawn in Dipla (Dipla automatically corrects most errors).

When a project contains drawing errors, various problems can occur in Dipla:

  • Calculations cannot be made because the area calculation is incorrect

  • Selecting elements

  • Displaying a project part with a drawing error

  • Filtering by project part will return no elements if it contains an element with a drawing error

  • Creating tasks on an element with a drawing error

It is therefore important to remove drawing errors from your project.

Drawing errors are visible when you enable the standard management process colour. The element turns blue, and red crosses and/or a green square appear on one of the vertices (see photo).

To correct drawing errors, you can choose to enable only the colour 'drawing errors'. This can provide a clearer overview when multiple elements are drawn on top of each other. Elements without drawing errors will then become invisible.

Correcting drawing errors

You can correct most drawing errors yourself. Make sure that:

  • there is no overlap within the polygon (photo 1)

  • two edges/vertices of the same polygon do not touch. There must always be a minimum amount of space between them (photo 2)

  • no negative space has been drawn (photo 3)

  • for a line: do not draw the line back and forth over the same location

To correct drawing errors, select the element and, in Elementinfo, click Edit polygon/line. Correct the error and click 'Save'. The error is only resolved when the error colour disappears.
